Potty Training

· Toddlers

When is the best age to begin potty training?

Most children typically begin potty training between the 22nd and 30th months of age, however, we feel it is important to look for signs and to best begin when your child is ready. Ages will differ, but most children are typically ready to begin training when they can completely control their bladder and bowel muscles.

The best sign to look for is when child uses the bathroom at about the same time every day. Another sign to look for is children who do not have a bowel movement at night. Children who can master basic motor skills such as walking, speaking, and climbing are generally ready to begin potty training.

When your growing child can go to the bathroom when they need to and when they can position themselves on the toilet with little or no assistance, they are considered toilet trained.
